Why Electrical Testing Matters

Legal Compliance

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require employers to maintain electrical systems in a safe condition. Regular testing demonstrates compliance.

Insurance Requirements

Many insurers require evidence of periodic electrical testing. An up-to-date EICR can be a condition of your policy.

Duty of Care

As a building owner or employer, you have a duty of care to anyone using your premises. Testing identifies hazards before they cause harm.

Prevent Downtime

Identifying deteriorating wiring and components before they fail reduces the risk of unexpected power outages and costly emergency repairs.

Is your testing overdue?

If your EICR has expired or you are unsure when your premises were last tested, get in touch. We will advise on what is needed and provide a clear quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should commercial premises be tested?

The recommended interval depends on the type of premises. Offices and shops are typically every 5 years, industrial premises every 3 years, and higher-risk environments may require annual testing. We will advise the appropriate frequency for your situation.

Will testing disrupt our business?

We work around your operations wherever possible. Many tests can be carried out with circuits live, and we schedule any required shutdowns for out-of-hours or quiet periods. We always discuss the plan with you before starting.

What happens if faults are found?

We document all observations in the EICR report with clear coding (C1, C2, C3, FI). We can quote and carry out any remedial works required, or you can use the report to instruct your own contractor.

How long does commercial testing take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the installation. A small office might take a day, while a larger commercial building could take several days. We provide a time estimate in our proposal so you can plan accordingly.

What certification do we receive?

You receive a full Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) to BS 7671 standards. For PAT testing, you receive individual appliance results and a summary certificate. All documentation is provided digitally and in hard copy.
