What is PAT Testing?
PAT testing is the routine inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances to make sure they are safe to use. It is a key part of meeting your health and safety obligations under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
We test every appliance with a calibrated PAT tester, apply pass/fail labels, and provide a full certificate and asset register. If anything fails, we flag it clearly so you can take action.

PAT Testing FAQs
What is PAT testing?+
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the routine inspection and testing of electrical appliances to check they are safe to use. It involves a visual inspection and, where necessary, electrical testing with a calibrated PAT tester.
Is PAT testing a legal requirement?+
There is no specific law that says you must PAT test, but the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that all electrical equipment is maintained to prevent danger. PAT testing is the most practical and widely accepted way to demonstrate compliance, especially for businesses and landlords.
How often should PAT testing be done?+
Frequency depends on the environment and equipment type. Offices typically need testing every 2-4 years, while higher-risk environments like construction sites or schools may need annual testing. We can advise on the right schedule for your premises.
Do you test fixed appliances as well?+
PAT testing covers portable and moveable equipment. For fixed installations (wiring, distribution boards, etc.), you need an EICR. We offer both services and can bundle them together.
What happens if an appliance fails?+
Failed items are clearly labelled and taken out of service. We provide a detailed report listing every fail with the reason, so you can replace or repair as needed. In many cases we can fix minor faults on the spot.
Can you test outside of business hours?+
Yes. We offer evening and weekend PAT testing to minimise disruption, especially for retail, hospitality, and school environments.

Not sure how many devices you have? No problem. Give us a rough idea of the premises size and we will help estimate. We can also do a quick site visit to count and quote.
