Frequently Asked Questions
Can you add a socket without chasing walls?
Yes. Surface-mounted sockets and mini trunking are clean, tidy options that avoid chasing into plasterwork. We can also run cables behind skirting boards or through voids where possible.
Is adding a socket notifiable work?
Adding a socket as a spur from an existing circuit is not always notifiable. However, adding a new circuit or working in a kitchen or bathroom is notifiable under Part P. Either way, we test and certify all work.
How long does it take to install a socket?
A straightforward socket addition typically takes 1-2 hours. Multiple sockets or new circuits may take half a day. We will give you an accurate timeframe when we quote.
Can you install sockets in a kitchen island?
Yes. We can install pop-up sockets, floor sockets, or side-mounted sockets in kitchen islands. The cable routing needs to be planned carefully, so it is best to involve us early in any kitchen renovation.
Do you install EV charger sockets?
We can install the dedicated circuit and supply required for an EV charger. For the charger unit itself, we work with OZEV-approved installers where the government grant applies.
